RCYC Governance and Bylaw Review Committee (GBRC)

In January the new Governance and Bylaw Review Committee was formed at the request of the Board of Directors.  The GBRC will continue and augment the work of the former Governance Review Committee, whose analysis of the nomination process, Board leadership, eligibility and composition was undertaken in August and September 2012 and whose report was received by the Board at its September 24, 2012 meeting.

Committee Membership

Nine Members have agreed to sit on this new committee. Members include two Directors, three members of the former Governance Review Committee, two former requisitionists of the November 2012 Special Meeting of Members, 3 lawyers familiar with governance practices and legislation and two Members with no prior association with the Club’s work in the area of governance, but with related professional experience and broad Club knowledge.  Their names are listed below.

The Mandate of the committee and its work plan for the next 18 months will be posted following the February 25 meeting of the Board of Directors.

Communication with the GBRC

Members wishing to communicate with the committee are invited to communicate with any committee member at any time; their contact information may be found in the roster. A dedicated email box, governance@rcyc.ca, is also available and will be checked regularly.  Members may expect a timely response to their emails.

The work plan will include a schedule of opportunities for conversation and debate among Members about governance issues of high importance to all Members.

A progress report on the work of the committee from January to April will be presented at the Annual General Meeting on April 21, 2013.
