ADULT LEARN TO SAIL

Adult Learn to Sail

The Royal Canadian Yacht Club’s Adult Learn to Sail programs run throughout the summer on Wednesday nights and weekends, on keelboats and in dinghies and are offered to all interested members and their friends.

Each lesson is taught by a qualified instructor with an extensive sailing background to ensure the highest quality of each program run at the club.  The courses offered are specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport in a fun, engaging and safe environment.

This program is designed such that the participants will be comfortable on the water and be able to competently handle a boat under sail.  Upon completion of any ALTS program participants will have an appropriate knowledge base to crew on boats during midweek racing, sail their own boat safely or begin participating in other, more advanced sailing programs offered at the club.

Womens Ideal 18 Skills Clinic

We are very excited to have three independent skills clinics planned for May 26th, June 9th, and July 14th. These clinics are open to all RCYC women, not just those signed up for the Monday night program. They are designed for the female sailor with a little experience who would like to benefit from some dedicated coaching to improve their skills . Each on-water clinic will be 4 hours long with a minimum of three boats registered required to run the clinic. The boats will be sailed double-handed (two in a boat). The coach for the first clinic on May 26th will be Karen McRae, a three time Canadian Sailing Champion. Cost per person will be $50.00 per clinic

Escape for a 4 day journey to NOTL or beyond. Experience living on board and really getting to know the boat. Without you, the sails will not go up and the boat won’t be steered.

The Course will be taught by Michelle Mazzotta who comes to us with over 10 years of cruising experience on tall ships, where she crossed the North Atlantic and several Yacht Excursions through Southern California, Mexico, the Caribbean and the Netherlands.
