Tennis Camps Summer 2013

Tennis Camps are designed for the novice and intermediate junior tennis player.  Each day, campers learn the various fundamentals of tennis ranging from grips, forehand, backhand, serve, volley and gameplay.  Our progam provides sound technical coaching that instills a love for tennis while focusing on fun and friendship for all ages.

Camp Information

Ages: 6 -16 years 
 
  • Level of Play: Suitable for beginner and intermediate players.
  • Things to Bring: racquet, court shoes, tennis whites, bathing suit, sunscreen, hat, snacks, water bottle and lunch*.
  • A lunch plan may be arranged with the Tennis office at an additional cost.
  • Schedule: Drop-off: 8:30 am at City Station (8:45 am boat launch)
  • Pick-up: 3:45 pm at City Station (3:30 pm boat launch)
Parents may arrange for campers to go to AFTER CAMP on the Island if they are unable to
pick up their children at 3:45 pm. This can be arranged through Children Care (childcare@rcyc.ca)

5-Day Camp | Members: $425 | Non-Members: $475
 
Please remember Tennis whites are required on the Tennis Courts.
The RCYC Pro Shop carries a selection of Junior Tennis clothing and racquets.

Junior Racquets Programs Fall/Winter/Spring 2013/14

Mon/Wed After-School Racquets Program

Ages: 5 – 16 years

The After School Racquets Program's main focus is to get RCYC's young junior Members playing squash and badminton. The goal of the program is to teach each child the excellent values of exercise, meeting new friends and playing the sport into adulthood, while having fun. Coaches work with players on the basics of each game: forehand, backhand, volley, serve, movement, and game strategy.

Sportsmanship and learning how to play in a fun, competitive environment will also be reinforced.
 
The after school program can accommodate beginner players as well as children who have played in the Saturday youth program.

Little Junior Racquets Program

Ages: 3 – 6 years old

This introduction to racquet sports is a fun, interactive program geared for children 3 - 6 years old.
The emphasis is to teach the basics in racquet skills, hand/eye coordination (ball bouncing & catching) and general foot movement (running/skipping).  Small classes held in the badminton hall ensure lots of participation, attention and loads of fun!

Thursdays: 4:15 pm – 5:00 pm

Squash Excellence Development

The S.E.D. program is for the junior squash players who are interested in developing their squash skills so that they can compete. Whether it be Club House Leagues, Toronto and District Leagues, or Squash Ontario/Canada competitions, this program gives players the opportunity to work on squash more than the Monday/Wednesday program. Each Tuesday/Thursday program will run for 1h20 instead of 45 minutes on Monday/Wednesday. By increasing on-court time, players are able to work in detail and focus on all aspects of their game. Although you can choose to participate on either Tuesday or Thursday. players are encouraged to participate on both days to enhance development. Players must have basic squash skills (ability to serve and rally) to participate in this program.

 Junior Badminton Development Program

(Intermediate/Advanced Players)
The Junior Badminton Development Program is a new program geared towards players who are interested in focusing on Badminton. Unlike the Monday/Wednesday program where most players participate in both badminton and squash, the focus of this program is increase court time in the badminton hall while working on racquet skills, on-court movement, fitness, game-play strategy and preparation for competition of any kind. This program is designed for players who have fundamental knowledge and skills at badminton.

Tuesday or Thursday: 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Saturday Youth Program

Squash/Badminton/Swimming

Ages: 5–16 years

The main focus of the Saturday Youth Racquets Program is to introduce RCYC Juniors to squash and badminton. The program aims to help eachparticipant develop and improve their athletic skills, meet new friends and most importantly, have fun!

The children are divided into 3 age groups: 5–7 years, 8–10 years and 11–16 years. During each session, participants will receive technical instruction in squash and badminton. A graduated system is used to ensure the progressive advancement of each child. Participants will learn tactical skills, proper etiquette, safety and rules for each activity. This program is fun!

Swimming:  

The RCYC Swimming program provides children with the basic fundamentals of swimming. 
Based on The Red Cross Swimming Program children progress through the three pillars of development: Swimming, Skills and Water Safety and Fitness.

The RCYC Saturday Swimming Program will provide group lessons for the following levels. 
There will be a maximum of four children per group with one instructor.
